Our History
For over 40 years, we have promoted professional development, continuing medical education, and cultural connection within the Hispanic medical community in Central Florida.

Our mission
To offer continuing medical education conferences for the professional development of physicians and to create social activities that facilitate networking among Hispanic healthcare professionals, as well as opportunities for their families to interact and build relationships. sus familias interactúen y establezcan relaciones.

Our Vision
To promote the professional, educational, and social development of Hispanic physicians and other Hispanic healthcare professionals in Central Florida; strengthen their families; and to preserve Hispanic culture.
Our Origins
For years, Cuban physicians in the Central Florida area gathered to commemorate Doctors' Day—a tradition born in Cuba and kept alive by doctors such as Herminio Orizondo, Domingo Álvarez del Puerto, and others. The date—marking the birth anniversary of Dr. Carlos J. Finlay—was adopted by many Latin American countries as Doctors' Day.
That annual gathering gave rise to the Cuban American Medical Association; its name and scope eventually evolved into the Pan-American Medical Association (PAMA) to better represent the entire Hispanic community in Central Florida.
Founded in 1984 with 30 members, PAMA has grown to bring together more than 200 physicians representing the entire Hispanic world. Over the years, we have welcomed all who share our heritage and aspirations.
We are committed to the following goals:
- Scientific and educational exchange
- Social and professional recognition
- Opportunities for our families to interact
- Preservation of our Hispanic culture
